Kia ora, I’m Jasmin— Emergent Creative Arts Therapist, mother, and founder of Studio Rūma.
I grew up here on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast, where the rhythms of ocean, bush, and community deeply shaped who I am.
After many years of travelling and working abroad, I eventually found my way home, returning to this place of belonging (whakapapa) to begin my own family and reconnect with what matters most.
Studio Rūma was brought to life as a multipurpose creative hub and event space, offering a place to work, gather, create, and entertain. Housed in a lovingly restored workshop in Ōrewa, it quickly became a vibrant centre for community and creativity. As the space evolved, so too did my understanding of the powerful, therapeutic nature of creative expression.
Inspired by the profound impact I witnessed creativity having on individuals and groups, I chose to pursue further study in this field. In 2024, I completed a Postgraduate Diploma and am now completing a Clinical Master’s in Creative Arts Therapy. This work represents a unique intersection—where psychotherapy and the creative arts meet to foster healing, self-discovery, and holistic wellbeing.
Creative Arts Therapy is a dynamic, evidence-based practice that utilises art-making, movement, play, creative writing, sound, sculpture, nature-connected arts, and more. These creative modalities provide clients with a non-verbal language to explore emotions, process experiences, and access unconscious material that may be difficult to express through words alone.
Grounded in the Māori health model of Te Whare Tapa Whā, my approach aims to support all dimensions of wellbeing - tinana (body), hinengaro (mind), wairua (spirit), and whānau (connection). As a Creative Arts Therapist, I work alongside clients to honour their stories and promote personal growth in a safe and inclusive environment.
Studio Rūma continues to grow as a space that holds both creativity and care at its core. I’m excited to share this next chapter—bringing the therapeutic potential of the arts more intentionally into the heart of our community.
